Agia Galini beach

In the picturesque village of Agia Galini with the beautiful alleys that lead to a port with fishing boats the visitor can taste the Cretan cuisine and enjoy the Cretan hospitality.

Walking through the alleys to the port and beach of Agia Galini one comes across restaurants serving delicious Cretan and Greek food, lots of fresh fish, traditional coffee shops with cretan raki and tidbits, cafes and bars but also mini markets, kiosks, bakeries, drugstores, gift, jewellery shops etc.
According to the mythology, the rock that was used by Icarus and Daedalus to escape from King Minos and fly to freedom is located in the port of Agia Galini. At this point there is a monument with their statues and the view is excellent.

The walk from the port to the beach of Agia Galini is very beautiful and only 2-3 minutes on foot. The beach of Agia Galini is quiet and clean, with umbrellas and sunbeds. There are also restaurants, cafes, and mini markets.

From the port of Agia Galini, visitors can take a boat ride to neighbouring beaches such as Agios Georgios, Agios Pavlos and Preveli.

The location of Agia Galini allows visitors to arrange trips towards every destination of Crete. Visit archaeological and tourist sites either by a hired car, bus, taxi or follow a guided tour on a tour bus.

Agia Galini is a perfect stepping stone for hikers with routes to the various villages surrounding the mountain slopes of Psiloritis and also to neighbouring beaches.
